Designing
with carpet
The interior of your home should be designed as an interrelated unit. When choosing
a color scheme, consider the walls, window treatments, carpet and other furnishings.
It is always a good idea to bring paint and fabric swatches to the store when
shopping for carpet. Keep in mind any special effects you wish to create.
Wall-to-wall carpet tends to expand the space of a room. An unbroken sweep
of color, especially a light color with a smooth texture, fools the eye into
seeing more space than really exists. In very small rooms, paint the walls
the same light color as the carpet.
Larger rooms can seem more intimate with rich, deep color carpet in a sculptured
texture.
The right color carpet in a room can affect its character. A room that lacks
sunlight can be warmed by sunny, bright colors. On the other hand, cool colors
can create a serene feeling in a room that's too sunny. you may use the ay
in which colors influence your emotions- the liveliness of red, the coziness
of brown, the cool controls of neutrals- to color your world in your own special
way.
Keep in mind that light colored carpet will show soil more than dark colors,
and dark colors will show lint and animal hair more than light colors. The
appropriate color carpet can help disguise soil tracked in from the outside
since the colors of dirt, sand, and clay vary widely.
Different areas of the home have different needs. Sometimes resistance to
wear is the primary concern. And in some rooms style and color are the main
consideration. The touch and feel of the carpet is also important.
