Bamboo floors care and maintenance

Maintain your bamboo floors floor as you would any hardwood floor. The key to your floor's long life and good looks is periodic cleaning and refinishing when necessary. Protectors should be placed under the legs of furniture and floor mats placed at entrances to the outdoors to collect dirt that can damage your floor finish. Always follow the finish manufacturers recommendations for periodic recoating.

USE ONLY CLEANING PRODUCTS RECOMMENDED FOR WOOD FLOORS WITH URETHANE FINISHES.

We recommend citrus based (orange/lemon) natural cleaning products suitable for floors.

Recoating Note: New products have been introduced that allow you to recoat a urethane floor without sanding. These products bond new urethane to old. They will not bond to bare wood.

How often do you recoat? - Recoating should happen when traffic patterns have appeared in your finish. You cannot recoat if you wear through to wood/bamboo floors.

Recoat vs. refinish:

Recoating - Apply another layer of urethane to mask scratching or traffic patterns. Existing urethane remains.
Refinish - Sand off existing urethane and remove dents/dings from flooring.

Common Issues:
Scratching - All Urethane finishes, including ceramic and aluminum oxide, will scratch. Use walk off mats to remove small pebbles and dirt from shoes. Sweep floors regularly. Make sure no nails
